NEW YORK ( -- Pharmaceutical giant Wyeth said it is handing McCann Erickson the U.S. creative duties for two brands, Centrum and Caltrate, following a review.

The Interpublic Group of Cos. agency won the business after a pitch against several shops, including WPP Group's Grey, said executives familiar with the matter.

The brands' incumbent creative agency, Publicis Groupe's Kaplan Thaler Group, which picked up the account in 2006, had been invited to defend the business, but declined the opportunity, executives said.

Agency representatives either could not be immediately reached or declined to comment, while a Wyeth spokesman confirmed the account shift but wouldn't comment further.

Vitamin brand Centrum and calcium supplement Caltrate together spent about $70 million in domestic measured media last year, according to TNS Media Intelligence.
