MMB, which first won the account in 2001, beat out Dentsu's Colby & Partners and WPP Group's Cole & Weber United in the pitch.
Fred Bertino, president and co-creative director of independent MMB, said the agency has expanded its core services by adding new digital marketing and customer relationship management capabilities.
The incumbent also added nontraditional media capabilities, said Lisa Carlson, a global manager of marketing at Shell who oversaw the review. "Their presentation was very well done and it demonstrated great thought, energy and knowledge of our business," she said.
The agency's most recent work for Jiffy Lube, which broke in April, spotlighted actual customers sharing their stories about how the quick-change motor oil operation helps keep their busy lives on track.
Roth Associates, New York, was the review consultant.
