NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- E.I. DuPont de Nemours has selected WPP Group's Ogilvy & Mather
as its full-service global agency, according to executives familiar with the situation.
A DuPont spokeswoman declined to
comment on the review, saying that a formal announcement will be issued tomorrow. DuPont, manufacturer of products as diverse as Tyvec protective materials and Lycra fiber, spent $68 million in measured media in the U.S. in 2002, according to TNS Media Intelligence/CMR.
The review was opened in January 2003. After narrowing the list of contenders following creative presentations in early April, five agencies were invited to participate in an online compensation auction, conducted later that month. Ogilvy competed against WPP sibling Y&R Advertising; Interpublic Group of Cos.' McCann-Erickson Worldwide and Foote Cone & Belding Worldwide; and Publicis Groupe's Saatchi & Saatchi.
Other agencies that pitched earlier in the process were Omnicom Group's BBDO Worldwide and DDB Worldwide.
