CHICAGO (AdAge.com) -- Internet travel service Orbitz has selected Y&R
Advertising, Chicago, to handle its $15 million to $20 million advertising account following a review, said executives with knowledge of the decision.
The WPP Group agency won a
shootout with Windy City rivals Publicis Groupe's Leo Burnett
USA and Omnicom Group's Element 79
Partners. Independent Fusion Idea Lab, Chicago, was the incumbent agency on the account.
The win for Y&R comes at a critical time for the agency, as it currently defends its roster position on the Sears, Robuck & Co. account it shares with WPP sibling Ogilvy & Mather.
Michael Sands, Orbitz' chief marketing officer and an alum of Leo Burnett, wasn't immediately available for comment.
