Minneapolis-based indie shop Periscope has picked up lead creative duties for three liquor brands -- UV Vodka, Prairie Organic Vodka and Revel Stoke Spiced Whisky.
The UV Vodka business was awarded to Periscope after a review, while Prairie and Revel Stoke were consolidated at the agency afterward. All three brands are owned by Phillips Distilling, which oversaw the review process. UV Vodka was previously handled by Olson, and Prairie and Revel Stoke were handled by MDC Partners' Mono, both Minneapolis agencies.
"Periscope offers an in-depth approach to brand building from consumer insights to amazing creative and campaign development. We look forward to what 2013 will bring," said Katie Alvino, corporate director of marketing, global at Phillips Distilling, in a statement.
While Prairie and Revel Stoke are small brands, UV Vodka is a bigger player. It's the ninth-largest vodka brand in the U.S., with U.S. sales of $29.8 million in the year ended July 8, according to SymphonyIRI. UV Vodka, which has a line of numerous flavored vodkas, expanded into Spain and China this month, and will be expanding into Europe, Mexico and additional countries in South America. It's currently marketed in U.S., Canada, Japan, Australia, Paraguay and the Caribbean.
Prairie, produced in Minnesota, bills itself as one of the first organic spirits, and Revel Stoke, which calls itself the "world's first spiced whisky," is distilled in Canada.
At Periscope, the booze brands join a roster of clients that include Red Robin, Cargill and ExxonMobil. The agency has about 410 employees with offices in its Minneapolis headquarters, Toronto, Hong Kong and Delhi.
