NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Pharmaceutical manufacturer Pfizer selected Publicis Groupe's Kaplan Thaler Group, New York, to handle advertising reponsibilities for its Celebrex account, following a review, the company said today.

"Both agencies showed us great work," said Dorothy Wetzel, vice president for consumer marketing for U.S. Pharmaceuticals.

Kaplan Thaler recently won ad responsibilities for Pfizer's Zoloft anti-depressant medication, also following a review.

Today's choice by Pfizer signals an end to the company's searches for agencies to handle three brands -- Zoloft, Zyrtec and Bextra -- formerly handled by Interpublic Group of Cos.' Deutsch, which split with Pfizer in February 2003. Celebrex, previously handled by WPP Group's J. Walter Thompson, New York, went into review shortly after.
