RED LOBSTER NAMES TOP MARKETING EXEC

Kim A. Lopdrup Was Former Burger King COO

By Published on .

CHICAGO (AdAge.com) -- Darden Restaurants' Red Lobster on Friday named a new executive vice president for marketing, filling a position vacant since January.

The executive, Kim A. Lopdrup, was formerly with Burger King Corp., where he was executive vice president and chief operating officer until this past May. He succeeds Mark McCallum, who left the seafood restaurant chain in January.

Red Lobster has suffered weak sales for several quarters and is reworking its advertising amid several executive departures and marketing misfires. In September, Red Lobster President Edna Morris stepped down and her duties were assumed by Dick Rivera, Darden's president and chief operating officer.

Havas' Euro RSCG Tatham Partners, Chicago, handles advertising for Red Lobster.
