RESTAURANT CHAIN BUFFETS OPENS REVIEW

$25 Million Account Is Currently With BBDO

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Restaurant chain Buffets Inc. is putting its $25 million creative and media advertising account into review.

The company sent out requests for proposals to ad agencies this week, said Leslie Winthrop, managing partner of consultancy AAR Partners, which is handling the review. Omnicom Group's BBDO Worldwide, Minneapolis, is the incumbent.

"We are the beginning of the search," Ms. Winthrop said.

Buffets, which has 400 locations that are 80% owned by the company and 20% owned by franchisees, has several restaurant brands: Old Country Buffet, Hometown Buffet, Country Roadhouse Buffet & Grill and Tahoe Joe's Famous Steakhouse.
