SAN FRANCISCO (AdAge.com) -- Sun Microsystems has narrowed the review for the creative portion of its advertising account to six West Coast agencies.
They are independents Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners, Sausalito, Calif., and Godfrey Q, San Francisco; WPP Group's Cole & Weber Red Cell, Seattle; Interpublic Group of Cos.' Sedgwick Rd., Seattle; MDC Partners' Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners, San Francisco; and Grey Global Group's Grey Worldwide, San Francisco. Grey purchased Beyond Interactive, which was the incumbent on part of the business.
Select Resources International, Santa Monica, Calif., is the consultant conducting the review.
Sun's media account, handled by Publicis Groupe's Starcom, is not affected by the review. Omnicom Group's Arnell Group of New York was the incumbent on creative.
Sun spent $5.5 million for the first seven months of 2004, and $11.7 million in 2003, according to TNS Media Intelligence/CMR, but the marketer has not disclosed its spending on the new account was not disclosed.
