VERIZON ENDS RELATIONSHIP WITH LOWE

'We Are Not in a Review Mode,' Telecom Says

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Verizon Communications' relationship with Interpublic Group of Cos.' Lowe & Partners Worldwide, New York, has ended but it has not sparked an agency review, a spokesman for the communications giant said today.

"There is no review around the corner," said John Bonomo, corporate communications, Verizon. "We are not in a review mode. Nothing of the kind is being considered."

McGarry Bowen, New York, to handle corporate brand advertising, a task previously handled by Lowe. Interpublic's DraftWorldwide, New York, is Verizon's agency of record for direct marketing and product advertising, while sibling Bozell, New York, handles Verizon Wireless.

Lowe's contract ends Jan. 31. The agency is completing assignments this week, Mr. Bonomo said.

More changes expected
Agency insiders expect more changes with Verizon's marketing as Jerri DeVard, Verizon's new senior vice president of brand management and marketing communications, takes the reins. The former Citigroup executive joined the company earlier this month.
