Effort Seeks to Consolidate Global Advertising

LONDON (AdAgeGlobal.com) -- As part of ongoing efforts to consolidate its global creative and media accounts worldwide, ChevronTexaco has named WPP Group's Young & Rubicam and Mediaedge:CIA to handle its pan-European creative and media business, according to executives close to the situation.

the WPP agencies will run the undisclosed regional account, which was previously with smaller shops in different markets, including HHCL & Partners in the U.K.

Earlier this year, the oil giant marketer consolidated its North American account into San Francisco-based Y&R and Mediaedge:CIA. Interpublic Group of Cos.' McCann-Erickson Worldwide handles the client's $30 million Caltex brand in select Asia/Pacific markets and Omnicom Group's BBDO Worldwide handles the client in Latin America.

London-based Young & Rubicam and Mediaedge:CIA declined to comment. The U.K. office of the client was also unable to comment.
