Aging Work Ethic

By Published on .

Whether due to financial concerns or expectations of sheer boredom, nearly three out of four baby boomers plan to work after they retire, a new survey by Scudder Kemper Investments shows. One-third of adults aged 66 and over work for pay today, and more than half of those aged 53 to 65 say they expect to punch in as well. Gen Xers plan to work into their golden years, but they're building nest eggs, too: 76 percent say they're taking the necessary steps for a financially secure retirement, and 53 percent contribute to 401(k) plans. Roughly the same percentage of boomers - 55 percent - save money in 401(k) accounts.
