Vanity Plates

By Published on .

Yo, Brooklyn car dealers! Skip the miles-to-the-gallon sales pitch and tell your clients that they'll look great in that flashy red number out on the lot. An analysis by CACI Marketing Systems Group in Arlington, Virginia, finds that the top three ZIP codes in which people tend to buy cars based on their looks are all in New York's most populous borough (for the curious, the ZIP codes largely cover the neighborhoods of Flatbush, Dyker Heights, and Kensington). Is it vanity that drives Brooklynites to care more about their car's appearance than performance? Fuhgeddaboutit! They gotta have something over their neighbors in Manhattan.
