Slash Breaks on Through

By Published on .

Shredder. Author. Commercial star. Sure Slash can rip, but it wasn't until he did it on a tiny guitar for a recent Guitar Hero III spot and trotted out the sordid details of his pursuit of oblivion that we knew he deserved entrance into the pantheon.

These behind-the-scenes photos show just how Slash was able to emerge from a unwitting gamer playing his part in Velvet Revolver's "Slither" and rip the solo harder than ever before.

DDB worked with MJZ's Blue Source, The Mill and Stan Winston Studios to get the best of both worlds—in camera effects as well as post work.

Like an elaborate modern dance composition, Slash would punch through the mouth of a prosthetic body in front of a green screen while a green-suited Winston team pulled off the fake skin covering.

According to DDB creatives, the strangest part of the shoot was not the top-hatted guitarist, but the folks scurrying around in tight green suits.
