It's probably safe to say that most ad agencies -- especially digital ones -- have festive environs, complete with things such as Ping-Pong tables, bean-bag chairs and drink carts, or even full-on bars with beer taps for happy hour. Digitas is no exception, but it's the culture and the collaborative nature that keep employees happy.
"Even though we have six offices in the U.S., it's the same culture," said Colin Kinsella, the agency's president-North America. "Whatever office you're in, it's the same Digitas. Everyone is intellectually curious. It's a culture of collaboration and tight teamwork." Mr. Kinsella added that every Digitas office has won a best-places-to-work award for its local market. (In Chicago, the local Digitas office has been on Crain's Chicago Business' best-places-to-work-list a number of times.)
The company also offers generous amounts of paid time off for employees: nine flex days, at least 15 vacation days and 16 paid holidays a year, which include four-day weekends for Memorial Day, the Fourth of July and Labor Day, plus unlimited sick time. And if employees have been at Digitas for more than 10 years, they get a two-week paid sabbatical.
The company also has generous paid leave for new parents, and employees are given one day a year for moving, five bereavement days and two marriage or commitment-ceremony days. Digitas also extends its benefits package to same- and opposite-sex domestic partnerships. In addition to paid adoption leave, the agency offers as much as $5,000 (net) reimbursement for the adoption of a child.
Digitas does its part to nourish the communities in which it is located. One day a year, every office closes and staff participate in community service. Last year, that amounted to 1,700 days taken off, tallying more than 14,000 employee hours dedicated to community service. "It's a big part of who we are as an agency," said Mr. Kinsella.
