GolinHarris, a global public-relations firm with clients such as McDonald's and Nintendo, takes a lot of care to stimulate its employees' imaginations.

The company, headquartered in Chicago, offers Golin Grants to employees to explore new interests or develop existing hobbies, awarding $1,000 and one week of paid time off to do so. The company also holds the Golin Harris Awards each year to celebrate exemplary work done by its employees around the globe.

The office space has an "ideation room" for coming up with ideas, and a Wii system for unwinding, along with Al's Diner (named for founder Al Golin) where team members can eat lunch and brainstorm.
