Nickelodeon celebrated the start of a new baseball season in Japan by running a "Meet the Major Leaguers Sweepstakes" for kids. Winners and their friends got to attend the game between the New York Mets and Chicago Cubs in Tokyo. Nickelodeon Global Network Ventures turned to New York production studio Hey! to create a 15-second teaser and a :90; David Steel of Steel Echt Creative Consulting in Offenbach, Germany, wrote the script. The spots were filmed in Tokyo and depicted a day in the life of a baseball-minded boy as he tries to will himself to be a winner in the sweepstakes. Hey! director Tarquin Cardona also created an animated 3-D baseball character for the commercials. The studio's creative director was Stephanie Sassola.
