The Aviation Week Intelligence Network (AWIN) began as a virtual library and evolved into an integrated online tool that combines news, data and analytics across the industry sectors of aerospace and defense, commercial aviation, business aviation and MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul).
The premium companion to AviationWeek.com brings in more than $6 million in subscription sales annually from about 2,000 accounts, including 32 enterprise accounts for “partner” organizations such as Boeing Corp., Honeywell International, Lockheed Martin Corp., NASA, the U.S. Department of Transportation and several commercial airlines.
A number of different subscription plans allows subscribers access to as much or as little information as they need. Single “seats” range from $900 to $3,545 depending on subscription type. Enterprise subscriptions vary according to the number of users.
AWIN provides access to more than 250,000 articles; details on more than 21,000 companies; contact information for more than 69,000 individuals; comprehensive specification data for more than 3,100 aircraft, spacecraft, engines, weapons and electronic systems; fleet data for more than 120,000 aircraft worldwide; and more than 13,000 tables and charts.
To help subscribers navigate this vast amount of data, AWIN provides a Flash tutorial, customized live Web training sessions and regular e-mails with tips for using the service.
AWIN is also keeping up with the latest trends in Web design and functionality. New community tools allow users to create their own profiles, comment on and recommend articles, share photos, join discussions and read selected blogs from across the Web. A video library also recently debuted.
