Menlo Park, Calif.—Eighteen percent of marketing and advertising executives interviewed said they expect to add full-time staff in the first three months of 2012, according to The Creative Group Hiring Index for Marketing and Advertising Professionals. Just 4% of those surveyed said they planned to reduce staff. The remaining 76% planned to make no changes.

The net 14% of executives planning to hire in the first quarter of next year is up 10 points from the year-earlier period. At the same time, the net 14% is six points lower than the figure of the fourth quarter of this year.

The Creative Group is a marketing and advertising staffing company. Its national survey was conducted by telephone in the fourth quarter. Five hundred executives—375 marketing professionals and 125 advertising professionals—participated in the survey.
