On his blog The Long Tail, Wired's Chris Anderson posts a video of David Heinemeier Hansson of 37Signals that fundamentally challenges Anderson’s “free” theory. (Anderson’s theory posits, eventually, everything digital will be free and that Web/tech companies shouldn’t charge for their products.) Hansson’s solution for generating a profit? Target a small, underserved market and don’t give away software for free!
