44 b-to-b magazines fold in first three quarters

New York—Forty-four b-to-b magazines folded in the first nine months of this year, according to data released Monday by MediaFinder.com. In the same time frame, 29 b-to-b publications were launched, including Sustainable Engineering. Additionally, 14 print publications moved to online-only formats.

Overall, 176 new magazines, including consumer titles, were launched in the first three quarters of the year. That’s down from the 259 new magazines last year.

Magazine closures declined to 127 in the first nine months of this year, down from 383 last year.

Twenty-six magazines overall have converted to online-only so far this year compared with 64 in the first three-quarters of 2009.
