Washington, D.C.—The Atlantic, which has pursued an aggressive online strategy featuring bloggers such as Andrew Sullivan, reported Monday that its digital revenue for the fourth quarter jumped 275% from a year earlier.

The Atlantic said it signed more than 50 new digital advertisers in 2009. “Through TheAtlantic.com and the newly launched Atlantic Wire, we’ve been able to tap into marketers’ demand for high levels of engagement with a targeted, high-end audience. Premium brands are strongly identifying with our intelligent and informed readership and excited by innovative ways of connecting with this audience,” Jay Lauf, The Atlantic’s VP-publisher, said in a statement.
