South Brunswick, N.J.--Barron’s President-Editor Ed Finn and Publisher Gary Holland said Tuesday that the weekly financial publication would add a Technology Week section on Jan. 14. The move could signal a rush by business media companies to fill the need for business strategy/technology publications, which saw The Industry Standard and numerous other publications fold over the past 12 months. The section will debut with about 24 pages. Barron’s declined to release the names of initial advertisers. The section will include a column by Bill Alpert called “Tech Trader” and a column from Barron’s West Coast correspondent Mark Veverka. A full-page, full-color ad costs $36,000, and a full-page, black-and-white ad costs $27,000, according to Finn. Barron’s also will recap and update stories initiated in its Web version.
