Published on .

New York—The New York Times will cut 100 jobs in its newsroom by the end of this year, according to a story that appeared Monday on the newspaper’s Web site.

The cuts will trim about 8% of the total newsroom jobs. The Times said it has about 1,250 employees on its news staff. Buyouts will be offered to employees, and layoffs will occur if enough employees do not leave voluntarily, according to Monday’s story. New York Times employees have taken a 5% pay cut for most of this year.
