Tokyo-based Ricoh Production Print Solutions has debuted Clickable Paper, a cross-media platform that enables users of iPhone and Android smartphones to receive content online by scanning print media with their phones. The mobile app enables access to different digital channels (such as e-commerce services, multimedia products, social networks and websites) through any print medium. Key features include: 1) Recognition of text, images and photographs; 2) linking multiple hot spots without reformatting original source material; 3) an authoring tool that permits content/hot spot association; and 4) database support. “Clickable Paper exemplifies Ricoh's theme of "Print and beyond,' an innovative technology providing a tremendous opportunity to build new services and added value to our customers,” said Sam Hosoe, exec VP-production print marketing center at Ricoh. The company, a global tech business specializing in office-imaging equipment, document-management systems and IT services, operates in more than 200 countries.
