Nearly a quarter of new consumer magazine subscriptions originate online

New York—The Internet is expected to account for 24% of new subscriptions among member magazines, according to a Magazine Publishers of America survey released Wednesday. This percentage has almost doubled since 2006, when 13% of new subscriptions for consumer magazines were generated via the Web.

“The Web is now the largest subscription source for one in five magazines,” Nina Link, MPA's president-CEO, said in a statement.

The survey also found that the Internet accounts for 13% of total subscriptions, including new sales and renewals. The online survey of member magazines was conducted this spring.
