ABC says ‘PC Magazine’ overstated circulation

Published on .

New York—Advertising Age reported Monday that Ziff Davis Media flagship PC Magazine overstated paid circulation in 2002 and 2003, according to a review by the Audit Bureau of Circulations.

The dispute centers on subscriptions to PC Magazine that were offered free on freebizmag.com as an incentive for completing a survey. ABC declined to comment on the reported dispute.

Ziff Davis President-COO Bart Catalane told Advertising Age, “There is no dispute with ABC, we are a member in good standing with ABC [and] we follow their rules to the letter. … Unfortunately, the facts [Advertising Age was] given are incorrect.”

Advertising Age and BtoB are both published by Crain Communications.
