Boston—A report released Monday by AberdeenGroup shows that e-procurement is reducing costs, streamlining business processes and enabling procurement to go from cutting costs to creating value.

The report, “Best Practices in E-Procurement,” details how leading companies are gaining value from e-procurement technology. These companies include Hewlett-Packard Co., GlaxoSmithKline and Novo Nordisk. Aberdeen’s Global Supply Management research team reviewed detailed information from 25 enterprises and chose 10 that stood out.

“E-procurement may have been over-hyped in the early days of the dot-com boom,” said Tim Minahan, Aberdeen’s chief service officer, in a news release, “but leading enterprises are now leveraging e-procurement to improve contract compliance, reduce material and process costs, and increase spend under management.”
