ABM Executive Forum: Economist predicts continued slow recovery

By Published on .

Chicago—American Business Media's Executive Forum kicked off Monday with a presentation from economist Joseph E. Kasputys, chairman and founder of Global Insights, who forecast a continued slow economic recovery.

Kasputys predicted that the U.S. economy will experience growth of 2.25% in 2011 and 3% in 2012. Emerging economies such as China (8.7%) and India (8%) will grow at faster rates next year, he said.

Despite the slow growth, Kasputys noted that corporations have “near-record” cash levels. He challenged the ABM members in attendance to convince these companies to begin using this cash to attract customers. “Your mission at American Business Media is to get them to spend that money,” Kasputys said.
