Published on .

New York—American Business Media is projecting that periodicals will face a 2.56% increase in postal rates next year. The increase, pending approval by the Postal Regulatory Commission, will take effect Jan. 27. Periodicals consist of two subclasses. “Outside County” publications, into which most ABM members fall, face an average increase of 2.55%. “Within County” publications face an average increase of 2.91%. Jack Widener, postal counsel for ABM, said in an email to members that the USPS also announced it has for the first time hit its borrowing limit of $15 billion. The agency said it will have to rely on revenue from stamps and other products to fund operations.
