Naples, Fla.—American Business Media announced a new award named in honor of Robert Krakoff, the b-to-b publishing veteran who died suddenly in March.

The inaugural Robert L. Krakoff Industry Leader of the Year Award will be presented at the 2008 Spring Meeting.

“Bob’s legacy will live on through this award,” said Gordon T. Hughes II, president-CEO of ABM, in a statement. “I am pleased that we are able to honor such a remarkable man, whose roots in the business information industry are extensive. Ever the visionary, Bob always was instrumental in bringing ABM’s mission and strategic plan to fruition. This award embodies what Bob stood for and his passion for business media.”

ABM has also established the Robert L. Krakoff Memorial Scholarship Fund through the Business Press Educational Foundation. This fund will be used to provide a scholarship to a school selected by Krakoff’s family.

Krakoff was CEO of Nielsen Business Media at the time of his death. Before that, he held top management posts at Advanstar Communications and Reed Business Information. He also served as chairman of ABM.
