New York—American Business Media has selected Joe Hanson, chairman of Professional Media Group, as the recipient of the 2006 Crain Award. The award was established by a grant from the G.D. Crain Jr. Foundation and is given annually to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the development of editorial excellence in business media. It is named for G.D. As chairman of Professional Media Group, Hanson serves as editorial director of the media company’s two titles, District Administration, which serves the K-12 education market; and University Business. Hanson also founded Folio: magazine. The 2006 Crain Award will be presented during the Jesse H. Neal Awards luncheon March 23 at New York’s Waldorf-Astoria Hotel.
