ABN Amro to start b-to-b e-commerce venture in Japan

Amsterdam, Netherlands--ABN Amro Holding NV, one of the largest banks in the world, plans to start a b-to-b electronic-commerce service in Japan and is seeking a bank partner in that country. ABN Amro already offers b-to-b e-commerce service in other Asian countries and is planning to ultimately offer it in the U.S. The bank faces stiff competition from Citigroup, New York, and Visa International, Foster City, Calif., which are in the midst of establishing global b-to-b e-commerce systems.
