Ask.com acquires content search company nRelate

Oakland, Calif.—Search engine Ask.com has acquired content discovery company nRelate. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. NRelate's technology recommends content to users that matches or complements other information they may have been searching for presented in the form of boxed images. The company also offers an ad component. The acquisition is expected to augment Ask.com's search methodology to answer questions posed by users. Ask.com said nRelate's platform has experienced 15% growth in impressions each month during the last year, and that Ask.com delivers answers to 65 million unique U.S. visitors every month. NRelate will remain based in New York and function as a division of Ask.com.
