The journal will cover the business of the life sciences, including biotech, health care, pharmaceuticals, agri-bio and bio-defense.
The magazine, aimed at decision-makers at life sciences companies, government agencies and venture capital firms, will debut with a 100-page folio. Using a paid subscription model, Acumen Sciences expects to reach a circulation of 30,000 by the end of this year. It will publish five issues of the magazine in 2003 and eight issues in 2004.
Advertisers in the debut issue include IBM Life Sciences, Oracle Corp. and Booz Allen Hamilton.
Eric Greenberg, CEO of Acumen Sciences, is publisher of the journal.
Jason Pontin, previously editor of Red Herring, is editor in chief of the new magazine.
