Acxiom acquires SmartDM

Little Rock, Ark.—Acxiom Corp. announced Friday it has acquired SmartDM, a Nashville-based direct marketing agency, for about $20 million in cash and stock.

The move is part of Acxiom's strategy to increase its business in the mid-tier market that SmartDM serves. SmartDM also has a strong e-mail focus.

"The combination of Acxiom's information management capabilities with SmartDM's ability to integrate e-mail, direct mail and call center marketing activities is a win-win for midsize companies," said Charles D. Morgan, Acxiom company leader, in a statement.
