New York--Dow Jones & Co. reported Tuesday that ad lineage at the companyâs flagship Wall Street Journal
fell 20% through October, compared with a decrease of 37% in 2001. Ad volume at the Journal
fell 13% in October alone, compared with 43% in October 2001. Dow Jones on Monday cut 23 news jobs at The Journal
as part of the publisher's ongoing efforts to cut costs in a slumping economy.
