IT ad pages fall 24% in August

Published on .

London--United Business Media’s CMP Media reported information technology ad pages declined 24.1% industrywide in August compared with August 2001 and 52.5% compared with August 2000.

Year-to-date, b-to-b IT ad pages declined 36.1% from a year earlier, and 54.0% from two years earlier, according to CMP’s analysis of the market.

There are some indications that the decline in ad pages may be slowing.

CMP’s InformationWeek, for example, showed a 3.4% decline in August compared with a year earlier. Year-to-date, InformationWeek was off 26.3% in ad pages.

CRN showed a modest 7% increase in August 2002 compared with August 2001. Year to date, CRN’s ad pages declined 25.9% compared with the same period last year.
