New York—Dow Jones & Co. reported that August advertising revenue at its flagship Wall Street Journal rose 6.9% in August—the 12th month in a row of ad gains for the U.S. edition of the Journal. In the financial advertising category, August advertising linage increased 50.2% due to increases in insurance, wholesale and tombstone advertising. Technology ad linage fell 17%, as declines in personal computers, software and technology professional services advertising were partially offset by increases in communications and hardware advertising.
