New York--Total ad spending across all media in the U.S. dropped 5.2% in the first quarter to $22.6 billion, compared to $23.8 billion in the first quarter last year, according to new data from CMR. Among large advertisers cutting ad budgets was General Motors Corp., which cut its spending by about 24% in the first quarter, according to the report.
