Advanstar acquires AIIM conference

Boston--Advanstar Communications Inc., a business information publishing and event company, announced the acquisition of the AIIM Conference & Exposition from the Association for Information and Image Management. Financial terms were not disclosed. The AIIM Conference & Exposition is an enterprise content management event that attracts more than 20,000 IT and business professionals annually. The next event, AIIM 2002, will be held March 5-8 at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco. Under the terms of the deal, Advanstar will produce and manage the AIIM Conference & Exposition through its Advanstar Technology Communities group, which currently produces the On Demand Digital Printing & Publishing Conference & Exposition in the U.S. and DMS Exposition in Europe. Advanstar has opened an office at AIIM International world headquarters in Washington, which will be headed by Brian Randall, formerly VP-sales and marketing for AIIM. The AIIM Conference & Exposition staff will report to Advanstar Technology Communities VP Kerry Gumas.
