Published on .

New York--Continuing to bolster its presence in the health care market, Advanstar Communications announced Monday that it has acquired the privately held Institute of Validation Technology (IVT), a source of Food and Drug Administration validation and compliance information.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Advanstar said the acquisition will strengthen its position in the pharmaceutical sector by adding the Journal of Validation Technology, Journal of GXP Compliance and 16 training conferences.

Advanstar said IVT President Glenn Melvin, who founded the company, and John Kirchner, director of IVT's conference division, will join Advanstar and retain their management positions after the transaction closes.
