Advanstar buys 'Sensors'

Cleveland--Advanstar Communications announced it has acquired Sensors magazine from Helmers Publishing, Peterborough, N.H. Additionally, Advanstar acquired the remaining interest that it didn't already own in Sensors Expo, formerly owned by Helmers. Along with Sensors magazine, which has a controlled circulation of 75,000, Advanstar bought the Sensors Buyers Guide; Sensors Express, a customized electronic news service; and the magazine Web site (www.sensorsmag.com). Sensors, Sensors Expo and the other products will join Advanstar's original equipment manufacturer/processing group, which includes GPS World magazine and Motion Control Expo. Advanstar also announced it will launch a new event, ``Field Service Solutions 2000,'' which will focus on technologies and strategies for field service management professionals. The event will debut Jan. 25-26 in Dallas.
