Advanstar revenue, earnings up in first quarter

New York—Advanstar Communications Thursday reported solid revenue and earnings growth for the first quarter.

Revenue increased 18% to $106.0 million, from $90.6 million from a year earlier. Earnings increased 41% to $31.0 million, from $22.0 million a year earlier.

The 2006 results included a restructuring charge of $2.4 million related to relocating Advanstar’s New York office.

EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) grew 24% to $39.0 million, from $32.0 million a year earlier.
