Advertising.com allies with Akamai

Baltimore--Advertising.com, seeking to build its burgeoning ad server network, said Thursday that is has signed an agreement with Akamai Technologies, Cambridge, Mass., to combine their technologies. That means Advertising.com's ad server software, used to serve advertising to about 4,000 publisher Web sites, will be integrated with Akamai's network software, designed to speed delivery of Web content globally. Advertising.com, Baltimore, said the deal would allow it to provide additional ad services such as sound and video incorporated in campaigns. Advertising.com claims its ad delivery services set it apart from such competitors as DoubleClick and 24/7 Media because it analyzes user preferences in real-time and delivers advertising based on those rather than relying on databases of demographic information.
