Advertising spending up 2.4% in first quarter

New York—Advertising spending for the first quarter increased 2.4% compared with the same period last year, according to preliminary figures released by Nielsen Media Research’s Nielsen Monitor-Plus.

B-to-b magazines posted an ad spending increase of 1.5% for the period.

Cable TV grew ad revenues by 12.4%, while national newspapers posted a meager 0.1% gain. Network TV increased revenues by 4.2%, and outdoor revenues jumped by 4.4%.
