Albertson's taps GE Global eXchange Services for supplier services

Published on .

Boise, Idaho--Grocery store giant Albertson's Inc. has entered a broad supplier services deal with GE Global eXchange Services. Gaithersburg, Md.-based GE Global eXchange will develop a Web-based platform that will allow Albertson's, which has 2,500 stores in 36 states, to complete all procurement and billing with clients. The platform's vendor users, which will include Kraft USA Inc., will be able to market to Albertson's electronically, as well. The idea is that money and time will be saved by using the platform; today, nearly all b-to-b grocery transactions are conducted via phone, fax and in-person sales calls.
