Allstate Corp., Northbrook, Ill., plans to introduce direct sales of insurance policies through the Internet, challenging its direct sales force of 15,000 agents. Allstate said it would not discount policies purchased on the Internet, and challenged its agents to provide a level of customer service superior to an online application.
