New York—ALM, a provider of news and business information for the legal and commercial real estate sectors, has cut 35 editorial and production positions. Kevin Michielsen, COO of ALM, said in a statement that the eliminated positions represented less than 7% of the editorial and production personnel in the company. “Although the decision to reduce staffing is never easy, this was the result of a careful analysis of what was needed for us to create a more nimble and productive editorial team,” he continued. “This is not a short-term, cost-cutting move.” Bill Carter, CEO of ALM, said that “the reorganization was focused on centralizing and standardizing the redundant processes and organizations that existed in our newspapers.”
