New York—Media company ALM has launched apps for 14 of its legal titles for use on Apple's iPads, iPhones and iPods.
The native apps—designed for Apple's iOS operating system and available in its iTunes store—complement the mobile-optimized websites ALM introduced for those brands in mid-May. Those mobile-optimized sites are designed to be viewed on tablets and smartphones using any operating system, including Android, BlackBerry and iOS.
With the new mobile-optimized websites and apps, ALM is responding to the growing use of mobile devices by attorneys to access legal content.
The American Bar Association's most recent technology survey, issued last summer, found that 89% of lawyers use smartphones for law-related tasks and nearly half of those (49%) are using Apple's iPhone. The same study reported that one-third of attorneys are using tablets, with the majority, 91%, using iPads.
